Thrifty Friday Trash to Treasure: A Brass Lamp Makeover with Farmhouse Charm Leave a Comment / Before & After Projects / By Tracy Today’s find came from my neighbor’s trash! She was throwing away this lamp, and while it looked rough, I could see its potential. The first thing I did was give the lamp a thorough cleaning to remove the dirt and grime. Then, I lightly sanded the surface to help the paint adhere. Next, I pulled out my Waverly Snow White paint. The lamp needed two coats for even coverage. Once the paint was completely dry, I lightly distressed the edges to give the lamp a farmhouse look. Next, I pulled out this floral transfer. I’ve had it for a few months, although I can’t remember where I bought it. I chose where I wanted the design on the lampshade, then carefully rubbed the transfer into place. Here’s the finished lamp—a fresh new look for a piece that was headed for the trash!
