It’s Thrifty Friday! I found this vase at Goodwill for just $10, and it was in great condition for the price.
The shape and decorative details caught my eye. I knew a fresh finish would bring out its character.
I started by giving the vase a thorough cleaning to remove any dirt and dust.
Next, I reached for Waverly Crimson. I know I use this color for quite a few projects, but I love the rich, warm finish!
I applied two coats of paint, allowing each coat to dry before adding the next.
Here’s how the vase looked after two coats. The crimson gave it a bold new look while highlighting the raised details.
To soften the brightness and add some depth, I pulled out my Waverly Antique Wax.
I applied the wax, then gently wiped it back with a baby wipe, leaving a little extra in the crevices to highlight the texture.
Once the finish had dried completely, I applied a compatible clear coat over the entire vase for added protection.
Here’s the finished piece! This $10 Goodwill find now has a rich, aged finish that makes a beautiful accent for…
an entryway…
or covered porch.
